Using The Power of YouTube To Get More Traffic To Your Site

Good morning, today we have a guest post from Timothy Ng….

Surprisingly, quite a number of webmasters ignore the power of YouTube to generate traffic and as excellent promotional medium. In case you haven’t noticed, almost every search query put up by Google contains YouTube videos.

Here are some tips to maximize YouTube for traffic generation:

1. Create a Professional-Looking Video for YouTube
A number of software tools are available in the market which have the ability to convert PowerPoint into videos.  However, experts advise on hiring someone or a professional team to create your video. You should create a versatile video which you can use just about everywhere.  DigitalPoint has some good people offering this kind of services. Other sources include freelance websites such as www.getafreelancer.com or www.Rentacoder.com.

YouTube what are people watching?

Good Evening, Social Rabbit here, your guide to the world of social media.

I thought tonight I’d look at what people are watching and putting onto YouTube, as I am sure that there are a lot of wannabee TV stars out there :)

A recent report (Feb 2010) from Sysomos on YouTube usage found that of the 2.5 million YouTube videos posted between July and December 2009 this is how they were broken down by category.

What is interesting is that the Howto category makes up 3.1%, nearly as big as film, plus education is 4.1%.  This is a definite opportunity for businesses, think about all the howto videos you could make on your products or services, think simple, how to wash it, care for it, etc.  People often are worried about how to care for items so you need to help them!  Having a YouTube channel helps with SEO for your brand, can be fed onto your Facebook page, Twitter stream and other social networking profiles.  It allows you to show people hot to use your product and therefore increase usage of the item.

The table below for all of you who do have a YouTube channel shows you the average stats for each category, so you can see how you are performing.  I have to say that Social Rabbit TV is alooooooooong way off the average, but we all have to start somewhere, and only tonight someone told me how much they enjoy the show ( I don’t think I will give up the day job as yet!)

But if you want to know the most popular video on YouTube of all time it’s this one – Aerosmith – I don’t wanna miss a thing! with over 62 million (that’s nearly 3 times the population of Australia!) views for me this is a surprising first.
