Clear Communication & The Golden Goose

Good morning, Social Rabbit here with a special guest blogger – Caylie Price of Better Business Better Life.

I felt like a GOOSE.

And certainly not of the prized golden goose variety.

You see I was staying with my grandmother for the weekend in my home town. She is the sweetest and most generous person. She really would give you the shirt off her back and last bit of food.

Anyway she was getting new tyres and needed to leave her car at the workshop while they were being done. Sadly her body is wearing out and she can’t stand for more than a few minutes nor walk very far. Not even around the block so I offered to pick her up. [Read more...]

What You Missed on Twitter

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

Last week I had a few requests from people who after Christmas feel that getting back up to speed on the social media is rather overwhelming with all the other post holiday catch up stuff.  So this week I will post each day on what you might have missed if you haven’t been on x, y or z for a while :)

Today I am going to start with Twitter, because if like me you tend to not actually really use Twitter.com, but instead use Tweetdeck or Hootsuite or another platform for accessing your tweets you may not know what has actually happened on the Twitter site.

The Timeline

I don’t think that this has changed recently, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong!  But one thing you may not know about is that you can expand Tweets as I have done below by clicking on the arrow in the top right corner of the tweet.  This can give you more information about who has retweeted it, where they sent it from, and basically it is just bigger (if you struggle with the small text!)how to see more information on your tweets on the timeline

Polish Up Your Tweets with Buffer

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

I started last year to use Buffer, it’s a cool widget that lets you tweet when you visit a web page.  You might think yeah yeah, you can do that with lots of other apps, and indeed you can – Marginize is one that I looked at recently and love, but I love this more :)

What is so fantastic about Buffer is that….

  1. It’s free – you know how I love free
  2. It can be used with Twitter or Facebook (but only personal Facebook accounts on the free version)
  3. You can schedule content with it – by this I mean that rather than me surfing about and sending tweet after tweet of cool pages I’ve found in the space of an hour and then nothing much for the next 23 hours I can space it out….
  4. There are analytics on the tweets you send

How to tweet on Twitter so that you actually get results!

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with an awesome guest blog from Serena Star-Leonard.

It is being reported that over 50% of all Twitter accounts are inactive, some suggest as high as 70%. This doesn’t surprise me as I speak to people every day who once set up an account, couldn’t figure it out and gave up.

Twitter is one of those things that business owners feel compelled to use. However… being “on” Twitter is not enough; you will not magically get web visitors or any results for your business by simply having an account.

So how do you tweet so that you actually get results?!

Did You Party with Us?

Good morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

On Wednesday Serena Star-Leonard, Melinda Samson and Linda Coles and I ran Australia’s first ever Twitter party! You may be thinking, what the? How can you have a party on Twitter? Yes, I was kind of thinking the same thing before we got started, but it was a lot of fun.

How it worked…

1) Serena, Melinda, Linda and I were all on a call that people could dial into to hear the conversation

2) There was a Twitter stream going on that people could follow, ask questions in and make comments on, see below (click on the image to go to the full stream online)
