Good Examples of Local Government on Facebook

Good morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

Today at special request from Fiona, I’m looking at what Government’s are up to on Facebook.  This is actually very good timing, since yesterday I went and spoke to the Greater Dandenong council about their social media plans.

Fairfax County in the USA, have a great tab on their page called “ask Fairfax” where they encourage comments and questions.  I’ve said this a few times before, but you need to make it easy (and obvious) for people to talk to you, and this is a great example of that.

Examples of Tradespeople Facebook Pages

Today has been a bit of a tough job, searching through Facebook to find examples of Tradespeople aka ‘Tradies’ with great Facebook pages, there isn’t that many Tradies on Facebook, which was part of the challenge, but here is what I found.

Jeff the Plumber at Wagner Plumbing: When you’re a tradesperson, your job really is all about the final ‘look’ and ‘feel’ of the product, that’s why  Jeff the Plumber at Wagner Plumbing has got it right, as he has made great use of his photos tab on his page.  Here he showcases some of his finished plumbing jobs – don’t worry no gruesome ones!  Photos are a great testimonial to the work that you provide your clients.

What you can learn from Yellowglen

Good afternoon, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

Recently I was asked which Australian brand is doing a good job on social media, that I see as a stand out….  I was put on the spot, and couldn’t think of a single one (apart from mine OBVIOUSLY!), which is kind of disappointing.  I know that yes the USA and UK tend to do it better because they have been using it for longer, but it got me thinking.  Then, I went to Randwick Races last Saturday and actually saw a great example of social media and off line combining – ok not perfectly in my opinion, but they had really thought about their consumers.
