Where to go for Blogging Help

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

A few weeks ago I went to the Problogger blogging conference in Melbourne, while I was there I bought Darren and Chris’s book Problogger: Secrets for blogging your way to a six-figure income.  I have just finished reading it, so this post is a review of their book.

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure IncomeThe book is great if you are just starting out in blogging or have been blogging for a while (like me).  I wasn’t sure if I was going to pick up any tips, but what I loved about this book is that it contains everything all in one place, which makes it a great resource, and it reminded me about a few things that I had forgotten about.  Plus it starts with Darren’s story, which is a really inspiring one for old or new bloggers.

I found that the book was great to read all the way through, but also good to dip in and out of depending on what I wanted info on.  It covers, starting a blog, finding your niche, setting up your blog, writing, income, promotion, social media and the secrets of successful blogs.  The book also goes into buying and selling a blog, the advantages and disadvantages of each and why you might do it.

Will you collaborate?

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

What's Mine is Yours: How Collaborative Consumption is Changing the Way We LiveI’ve just finished reading this book – What’s Mine is Yours: The Rise of collaborative consumption by Rachel Botsman and Roo Rogers.  I also saw Rachel speak on collaborative consumption at a conference in Sydney.

I really enjoyed this book because it opened my eyes as to how you don’t need to own items outright, you can share and use them when needed.  Which I do already with friends, but with strangers, well no, but that is what this book is all about.  Collaborative consumption is sharing items rather than owning.

Customer Service proposes to Social Media

Good Afternoon, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

This weekend has been a long weekend in NSW, so I have been catching up on some reading.  I read Customer Service: New Rules for a Social Media World by Peter Shankman.

Customer Service: New Rules for a Social Media World

I was impressed by Peter’s blog, which is why I bought the book, which I have to say it is unusual for me to read one blog post and buy the book, but I did.  I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed, the book is a very easy read, hands on, easy to follow with lots of case studies, tips and ideas that anyone could implement.  I love the way he marries customer service together with social media so strongly.  Plus he explains things in a no nonsense easy to understand way for any level of reader experience with social media. Who do You Trust?

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

Trust Agents: Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust

This morning I’ve written a review of Trust Agents by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith.  I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, and I wasn’t disappointed, these guys are right on my wavelength!

Why did I love it?

It is all about the building of relationships with people through helping them.  In some ways it is similar to Enchantment and The Thank You Economy – it’s all about helping others and through doing that you become trusted, known and ultimately successful.

The book has lots of practical examples as well as homework at the end – this follows my school of thought perfectly, you need to practice what you learn otherwise it just doesn’t go in!

Is your business saying “Thank You”?

Good morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

I have just finished reading “The Thank You Economy” by Gary Vaynerchuk, I have to say that I enjoyed it, and it gave me food for thought – which is always the sign of a good read.  Gary’s book is all about how you can use social media tools in your business, to create a business where you customers love you because you care.  This applies all businesses, whether the business is massive or tiny.  The information in this book is not new to the extent that appreciating, listening to, acknowledging and involving your customers is something that many businesses already do.  However, there are far more businesses not doing that, this shows how social media can help you and why you should be using it.  Below are some of my favourite quotes from the book… [Read more...]
