10 Reasons I Keep Blogging

Good Afternoon, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

I’ve been blogging now on this blog for nearly 2 years, doesn’t time fly?  I have to say it hasn’t been easy, take today for example, I know I need to write a post, and yes I have a list of topics that I could write on, but none of them really appeal to me, so I procrastinated all morning doing other VERY important things!  Finally now I sit down and say to myself “you have to get it done”.

Whereas other days I can write 2 or 3 posts no procrastinating, it’s easy on those days.  I know that lots of people suffer from the same dramas with their blogs as well, so hence my topic – 10 reasons I keep blogging.

First one of the challenges I find with my blog (and I expect you do too) is that I don’t really know how well I’m doing, yes I can use the Hubspot Bloggrader tool to get a number (mine’s 98), but I’d like to know how I compare with other blogs in my area in regards to traffic, I mean am I doing a good job?  At this point one of my friends would tell me that I am an overachiever…. that’s as maybe, but someone has to be!

I want to share this image below, this is from this site, it shows the number of visits to my blog each month since June last year, my biggest month was August this year with 10,608 visits.  Now I am not showing you this to say “nah nah aren’t I great”, but more because I think more sites should be transparent about their visitors so that use newerbies can see what to aim for!

Where to go for Blogging Help

Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

A few weeks ago I went to the Problogger blogging conference in Melbourne, while I was there I bought Darren and Chris’s book Problogger: Secrets for blogging your way to a six-figure income.  I have just finished reading it, so this post is a review of their book.

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure IncomeThe book is great if you are just starting out in blogging or have been blogging for a while (like me).  I wasn’t sure if I was going to pick up any tips, but what I loved about this book is that it contains everything all in one place, which makes it a great resource, and it reminded me about a few things that I had forgotten about.  Plus it starts with Darren’s story, which is a really inspiring one for old or new bloggers.

I found that the book was great to read all the way through, but also good to dip in and out of depending on what I wanted info on.  It covers, starting a blog, finding your niche, setting up your blog, writing, income, promotion, social media and the secrets of successful blogs.  The book also goes into buying and selling a blog, the advantages and disadvantages of each and why you might do it.
