Good Morning, Social Rabbit here bouncing in puddles in the UK! Yes, you’ve guessed it’s raining!! Hence why I am inside writing this blog
I’m a big fan of learning and particularly online, and I saw that later this month there is a great online Facebook ad conference happening with lots of fantastic speakers. You’ve probably noticed that Facebook ads have got so much more confusing what with promoted posts, sponsored stories, the new options of what you can advertise and that you can now specify your objective of the campaign that I figure everyone probably needs all the help they can get!
When I first started using Facebook ads over 2.5 years ago there weren’t many options at all in terms of the ads you could run, and now people are making a whole business out of Facebook ads – rather like Google ad consultants. They can be very effective as long as you know:
- What you are trying to achieve
- How much you are willing to spend
- Your call to action
- That where the person lands fits with the ad
It sounds easy, but I spent quite a bit of cash learning when I first advertised the Social Rabbit Facebook page, because I didn’t initially understand that I could target my advertising using demographics such as location, age and gender. Facebook ads have changed significantly since them and with things like promoted posts coming out, it’s hard to know what the best way to spend your money is.
Promoted Posts
Promoted posts were launched in May 2012 to give you the option to pay to have more people see your post.
You might not know that the Edgerank formula that Facebook uses to determine if someone who likes your page will see each post means that on average around 16% of those who like your page see a post you put on your Timeline!!
You can see how your posts are working for you – below each post there is a percentage figure and that is the percentage of those who like your page who have seen the post. Facebook have brought out promoted posts as a way to help you get more people to see your content – at a cost of course!
I’m not saying that you have to run Facebook ads or indeed use promoted posts, but if you are running online advertising Facebook can actually be one of the most effective ways to promote your business/brand/special offers etc.
Why Bother?
What I really like about this online Facebook ads training course is that you don’t have to watch it live, it is all recorded and you can go back for up to 6 months and rewatch them later, as well as watching and doing at the same time.
Plus there are over 20 different speakers and case studies to go through – I know that this sounds a bit like I’m getting paid to promote this, but I really am not – but they did approach me and give me a discount (see below), which is why I wanted to tell you
. I think that whether you are new to Facebook ads, want to grow your business or just get more out of your ads on Facebook it is great opportunity.
