It looks cloudy online…

Good afternoon, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

I saw this word cloud recently which shows the different types of Twitter users (according to the cloud maker).  Doesn’t it look cool?  If you want to see which type of Tweeter you are click on the image which will take you to the definitions of each one :)

If you haven’t played with word clouds before, how they work is that the biggest words are the most mentioned (most results).  Sometimes you will see a word cloud on a website or blog showing all the topics that are written about, the more articles there are on a topic the bigger the topic words.

Word clouds are a great way to display information from your business or the results of a survey in an interesting way that people can instantly and easily see what the results are.

Making a word cloud is really easy, you don’t need to do it yourself, you can use online software such as Cloud-maker to do it.  All you need to do is come up with a question, collect the answers.  They can brighten up a blog post, be used on Facebook, Twitter etc. and are a quick reference for those readers who like looking at the pictures rather than reading the text.

Below is a word cloud that I knocked up this morning, I asked people to tell me what “3 words first come to mind when you think of social media”, as you can see the results are that Facebook is the most thought of word.  I only did this survey with 8 people, so don’t rely on this too much.  I did it rather to demonstrate the kind of results you can get.

3 social media words

If you haven’t tried to create a word cloud do you think you might now?  If you create one send me a link of where I can find it in the comments below….
