Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.
Today’s Facebook Page review is for Female for Life which is an activewear clothing label for real women with real curves.
What’s Happening on the Page now
- 294 people like the page
- The page has been going since the 16th September 2009
What’s working:
- Female for Life has their own Facebook URL http://www.facebook.com/femaleforlife
- They have utilised the Photo’s tab and put up images of their Autumn 2010 range, however further suggestions are below
Recommendations Going Forward
- To gain more exposure the link to the external websites should be listed in the info box under the logo. This needs to be include http:// so that it hyperlinks to the sites
- In the info box there are a few typo’s, it is really important that this text is correct – first impressions count! Also look at putting line spaces in between the paragraphs to make the text easier to read.
- There is no landing or welcome tab for the page, currently non-likers are landing on the info tab which tells them nothing! They could have a landing tab that includes what products they have on offer and why visitors should like the page
- The info tab is empty, all it contains is the website and the Facebook Page URL. They need to have information on the company and products (such as what is on the about us website page), including the keywords that people search on. Also add in the Twitter URL, so that people can see where they are active in social media.
- The phone numbers are not anywhere on the Facebook page, these should be added as well as a contact email address if there is one, you need to make it as easy as possible for people to contact you. The best place for these is on the info tab.
- As mentioned, Female for life has utilised the Photo’s tab and put up images of their Autumn 2010 range, however I would suggest that they name the photographs or at least give a little bit more information as to what product is what, or even link the photographs back to their website to the products section
- There seems to be an ‘events’ box however not an ‘events’ tab, if they had a tab it would be a lot easier for people to access as its at the top of the page. The events box down the side isn’t being utilised as not everyone will look that far down the page. Plus as of August 23rd boxes are disappearing from Facebook pages, so there will be no choice but to have a tab.
- The discussions tab has 2 posts on it, and they are both from the page admin. This is not being used at all, so it should either start to engage people or be ditched.
- There are a number of comments on the photo’s but the page admin hasn’t responded to them, it is important to remember to respond to all comments (whichever tab they are on), especially as one of them is asking “how much is this?”
- Female for Life could use a shopping cart application like Vendor on their page to sell their products from the Facebook page using Paypal to generate more sales.
- If they were to add a Shopping cart application to their page, It would also be worthwhile adding a shipping or perhaps a sizing tab so that people don’t have to go back to the website to find out these details, and can do it all through Facebook
- They could create a ‘likers only’ tab and offer people who ‘like’ the page special offers and discounts, perhaps 10% off their next order via Facebook or the website etc. This will encourage more people to like the page and hopefully increase sales.
- Use the polls application to find out information such as favourite pieces from the Autumn range, ask for example how often do you buy new gym wear etc so this gives them an idea of how often people spend money on gym wear etc.
- Look at increasing the size of the profile picture (you have 180×540 pixels high to play with). They could include an image as well to make it stand out more, perhaps showcase some of the clothing or even put a small blurb in regards to the brand, from an outside point of view the first initial thought was that it might be a yoga or women’s wellness company.
- Female for Life has a Twitter account which is posting every couple of days and has 430 followers, more than what they have on Facebook. So perhaps they need to tweet out about their Facebook page?
- Although the posting is reasonably regular it isn’t always engaging people, ask questions, post images of new products (make sure they link back to the store tab or website), make it easy for people to respond to posts, give them either or options, ask easy questions.
- They could include details on where you can actually see the clothing in person rather than online
- A newsletter sign up tab could be added to the page to encourage more people to find out about the brand and build their database
- The website promotes the fact that the company is carbon neutral, this should be expanded upon on the Facebook page, it could be that a FBML tab is added explaining how Female for Life is carbon neutral.
- Start a Reviews tab to encourage people to tell others what they think of the clothing, there are some really powerful testimonials on the website which could be added. To encourage more testimonials a discount off the next order could be used.
- A notes tab could be added to the page and each week a different clothing item could be featured as to what you would wear it for, how it helps support you etc. This would showcase the range really well, but also provide useful information on the products for people who aren’t aware of them.
Summary
Overall this page is getting some engagement, but the posting needs to be tightened up. The posts that are up are really interesting, but they are not inviting comment, plus they are not regular enough. Really once a week should be the minimum that you look at – you want to keep people coming back to your page. Secondly the products need to be showcased more! As regular readers know I am not into huge amounts of self promotion, but it really isn’t leaping out at me what this business is all about! A landing tab would fix that up quickly, plus maybe posting on the products once a week or a fortnight and including a product shot would also help. People “like” the page because of the products and the business, so you need to reference them more!
