Facebook Friday: Tribe Research

Good morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.

It’s Facebook Friday!!!  Today I’m looking at a Market Research company page….Tribe Research

The Tribe Research page has been going since March 2009, it has 142 people who like it.

What’s working?

  • They have their own Facebook page URL http://www.facebook.com/triberesearch
  • They have added both their websites (and hyperlinked them) into the info box on the front of the page, so you can easily access their website as well
  • They have a link to their Tribe Research Facebook Page on their website
  • They are using images with posts which makes it more interesting to look at
  • The posts are informative and ask questions, this is the best way to get interaction with your ‘likers’
  • They have a great YouTube tab on their page and have already set up their very own Tribe research YouTube channel

What could be improved?

  • The page only has 142 people who ‘like’ the page however the page has been going for over a year, so I would expect there to be more interest
  • The posts on the page don’t seem to be regular, there was a gap at the end of May where they didn’t post for over 3 weeks, then they’ve posted every 3 days.
  • There needs to be more information filled in on the info tab, there are very few key words and it doesn’t describe well enough what they do to someone who doesn’t know anything about the company
  • They should add their YouTube channel address to the info tab under websites, although this is repetition, it is a good idea to make the info easy for people to find
  • The profile picture could be bigger with perhaps some information and text on what Tribe Research actually does, you need to use the space you have, 180×540 pixels.
  • They only have a ‘wall’, ‘info’ and ‘YouTube’ tab, there is a lot of opportunity to add more tabs that will help provide visitors with more info
  • Tribe Research runs a number of events and has an events box on the wall, but it is right at the bottom and hard to find, it would be better if it was moved to a tab to make it more obvious
  • Tribe Research doesn’t have their Facebook page promoted on their ‘Tribaltookkit’ website, adding the link would drive more traffic
  • It would be a good idea to consider adding a landing tab to the page, this way it can give people more information in regards to their service plus will increase the chance of people “liking” the page.  They can create their own and use the ‘static FBML’ application in Facebook to install it
  • Tribe Research could add a shopping cart application on their page to sell their workshops that they run and perhaps any other products they have available
  • Adding a tab on the founder of Tribe Research ‘Kate Tribe’ could be a great idea as she is the face of the company, and on both websites there is a section on her
  • Create a tab on their page called ‘Cloud Maker’ this is something that Tribe Research have created that allows you to make a word cloud, on their website you can set up a free account and get started, so they could have this available on their page also.
  • They could set up a “likers” only tab where people could get a free Cloud Maker’ account which would mean that they visit the website and also get to try the product
  • There are a lot of free resources on their website which could be added onto their page using a PDF tab or even using the notes tab so that visitors can subscribe to it
  • Tribe research needs to use their Facebook page to position themselves as experts in qualitative market research, so adding resources, offering tips will all help position them
  • They could add a newsletter sign up with the FBML app to give people more info on the company
  • They could include case-studies on the page to give people an idea of how market research can help a business, as often that gets overlooked

Summary

The page is very basic, and could really be improved through adding more tabs and more information to position Tribe Research as experts and thought leaders in their area.  Currently the lack of info on the page does not do this.  There are only 99 market research service business pages on Facebook, so there is a lot of opportunity to engage people and stand out.
