Good Morning, Social Rabbit here with your guide to the world of social media.
Today all you wannabee LinkedIn experts get ready…. There is a section called “Answers”, see below, to get to this mystical section click on the MORE button at the top.
Answers is basically a place where you can ask and answer questions from other people on LinkedIn. There are 22 different categories of questions across all areas of business including health, career, non-profit and government.
So what do you do now? The idea in this section is to reinforce your position as an expert, share your ideas with the community and get to meet more people.
- Choose a couple of answer categories that you feel confident in answering questions in. Mine are ‘marketing and sales’, ‘start-ups and small business’ and sometimes I venture into ‘technology’ and ‘using LinkedIn’
- Check out the category and see if there are any questions that jump out at you and open one – where you can add value and don’t just choose the easy ones!
- Once you have the question open read the details, if there are comments there already then you can base your comments on those, or just add your own thoughts. If someone has already said what you wanted to say then it’s fine to write along the lines of “I totally agree with x, when I did x in my business it got the same results”
- Make sure when you are writing your comments that you re-read it before you hit save, because you don’t want to look like an idiot!
- Now go back and do another 4 questions……
When you are answering questions remember it is all about BRAND YOU what you writes reflects on your credibility, expertise, business and image.
Why answer?
- Share the love
- Look like an expert
- Everyone who asks a question chooses one of the answers as the ‘best answer’ this then shows up on your profile if you win it
- Every question you answer shows up in the updates on home page of your connections, therefore increasing your BRAND YOU awareness
- On your profile people can see how many questions you have answered and asked in total, and therefore judge how active you are and how much you contribute
This should be a daily task on LinkedIn not just something you do when bored! I’d love to connect with you on LinkedIn, but please write me a personal note when you ask me, otherwise I have no idea who you are! Click on the LinkedIn button on this site to connect.
